MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID

Dates: Feb 1 & 2 (Wed & Thus)

Time: 8:30 am - 4:00 pm

Cost: $75 (includes manual)

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is a ground- breaking program that equips Canadians with the knowledge needed to comfortably and proactively respond to those who may require mental health assistance. MHFA Canada shares the same overall purpose as traditional First Aid- to save lives. You don't have to be a trained professional to offer initial help.

With MHFA Canada trained employees, equip your organization to:

*Preserve life where an employee may be at risk of hurting themselves and /or contributing to an unsafe work environment.
*Recognize and understand the symptoms of mental health problems, including those related to substance abuse
*Provide help to prevent the mental health by accommodating employees in distress or recovering from a crisis
*Increase productivity and reduce absenteeism and overall pressure are benefits.

INTERMEDIATE ESL

Are you looking to improve and refine your English? This is for people who are able to have a basic conversation, but still need to improve their grammar and increase vocabulary. Here you will find an emphasis on English speaking skills with an opportunity to expand your writing skills. By the end of this course you would have increased your englsih language skills and writing skills.

 

GRAMMAR AND WRITING

Date: Feb. 4 - 18 (Sat)
Time: 11:00 - 3:00 pm
Cost: $50

This course will offer the basic writing skills needed to develop essays: brainstorming, organizing ideas, draft writing, and the use of tools to edit. If you are looking to upgrade your high school skills, preparing to take college courses or have intermediate language skills, this is the course for you.

MAC 101 - INTRODUCTION

Date: Feb. 8 & 22 (Wed)
Time: 6:00 - 9:00 pm

If you are thinking of buying a Mac or have one and want to learn how to use it, then this is the class for you! This class will teach you the basics of your Mac, and you will learn how to customize your desktop, instaff and download software and other applications.

 

NAVIGATION WITH MAP AND COMPASS

Date: Feb. 13 (Mon)
Time: 6:00 - 9:00 pm
Cost: $30
($50 if registered for both this and GPS)

If you spend time in the backcountry, being able to read a map and navigate with a compass are skills that will help you find your way home. This course will help you understand: how to read maps, magnetic variation and referencing your position with map coordinates. You will learn about the features of a compass and how to plot a course and take a bearing. By the end of the course, you will be able to plan a route for a backcountry trip.

GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM - GPS

Date: Feb 15 (Wed)
Time: 6:00 - 9:00 pm
Cost: $30

($50 is registered for this class and Navigation with maps and compass)

This is hands-on training to introduce the participants to the use of Global Positioning Systems. This course should provide participants with a basic knowledge of how GPS works including taking your position,
entering a reference of travel routes, recording and plotting a track and understanding the strengths and weaknesses of this navigation system.
NOTE: We encourage participants to bring their own GPS. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear for outdoors.

 

iPhone BASICS

Did you know that people only use 10% of their phone's capacity? This course will teach basic iPhone features including downloading apps, setting up mail and managing content. We will also cover some fun tips and tricks to make the most of your iPhone.

FINANCIAL PLANNING 101

This class will provide you with everything you need to know to manage your household funds, and plan for your financial future. Topics covered include how to optimize you tax return and other government benefits, strategies to build financial defenses, credit cards, the ins and outs of mutual funds, and much more.

PHOTOSHOP I

Date: FEB. 22 (Wed)

This workshop is the perfect place to start if you are a beginner Photoshop user, or an aspiring photographer. You will begin by learning about file types, the photoshop workspace, and basic image corrections. Then you will learn how to: change your image size, enhance your project, and prepare your work for printing and sharing.

PHOTOSHOP II

This course is recommended for students who already have some photoshop knowledge or experience. Topics covered include photo corrections, blending, colour effects, playing with text, text effects, resizing for print, and organizing file systems.

DREAMS

Dates: Feb 26 (Sun)
Time: 1:00 to 4:00 pm
Cost: $15

Ever wonder what your dreams mean? Here you will dive into your own subconscious and
determine what your dreams are trying to tell you.  This course includes an introduction to journaling to compliment your journey.
